Norbut Solar Farms Visit

On July 15, 2026, I stopped by Norbut Solar Farms in Parma, NY, to see firsthand how solar energy and traditional farming can work together, providing income for farmers while building clean energy infrastructure.

It's a great example of how clean energy and agriculture can complement one another to strengthen our local economy and support family farms. This is exactly the kind of rural economic development we need more of here in the Finger Lakes.

A few things that stood out to me from my visit:

• The solar panels are barely visible from the road, minimizing their impact on the surrounding community.
• Sheep and other livestock naturally maintain the land while improving soil health.
• Agrivoltaics (or agrisolar) provides farmers with an additional source of income while allowing agriculture to continue.
